It’s not even October yet, and already it’s difficult to find a major big-box retailer that doesn’t already have a sizable Christmas display out for purchase. The sun is still shining like it’s summer, and in some areas it’s still 80 degrees, but that hasn’t stopped retailers from putting out their Santa Claus displays. It’s a phenomenon known as the “Christmas Creep,” according to this interesting article from the Boston Globe examining why retailers have moved the Christmas holiday up so early this year.
